FAQ

What is “Adaptive Behavior Treatment?”

Adaptive Behavior Treatment is designed to increase skills that children and young adults do not yet have and reducing the problem behaviors or barriers that get in the way of typical skill development. It is based on the principles and procedures of Applied Behavior Analysis and has been proven over and over to be the most effective treatment for learners on the Autism Spectrum.

The actual treatment itself is completely individualized to your child based on his or her current development and what your family needs. At Peritia, our therapy takes into account our leaner’s current developmental age and where they should be based on his or her actual age. Then our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (“BCBA”) design a program around what they enjoy doing and using our teaching principles to develop skills. Treatment can be just a few hours per week up to 30-40 hours depending on needs. Our Registered Behavior Technicians (“RBT) provide the bulk of therapy hours and the treatment is supervised by a BCBA.

Peritia also highly values parent participation in the treatment process. We want to include you in as many sessions as possible so you can see first hand exactly what your child is learning. Your BCBA will also provide more specific training to address what goes on in your house when the RBTs are not there. That, too, is tailored to your family’s specific needs.
